I have a new favorite photographer. I could kill myself for not finding out about Omh Phanphiroj sooner than today. Allthough it is over 5 years since gay publishing giant Bruno Gmünder released Thai born Phanphiroj's debut "Rough Stuff", today was the first time this wonderful body of work caught my eye. I guess much has to do with Gmünder's preference for beefy guys which is often a bit too polished for my tastes. But boy does this stand out! Not giving in on fashion editorial qualities, Omh Phanphiroj's boys show us emotion, intimacy and lust, all beautifully lit and developed with care. Fanboys: The Cramps

Every day, thousands of amateur boys spread their legs and wave their manhood towards an even bigger army of horned up men and women, embodied by a tiny webcam set up in their rooms. The impression of authenticity adds an extra dose of lust in an online world of professionally staged pornography. Although websites like Dudesnude host a neverending stream of bedroom cocks and buttholes, only a few of these pictures give us some insight in the true persona of the boy on display. This series will collect those amateur beefcake snapshots that hint the subject's musical tastes. Today's fanboy leads us to The Cramps.

Lux Interior, frontman of the Cramps, passed away in a Calfornia hospital earlier this month. With his wife and bassplayer Poison Ivy, Lux had been playing freaked out gigs all over the world until very recently. Their fusion of punk, 50's rockabilly and all things sex n horror had set the band appart from their CBGB's contemporaries and punk pioniers from the very start. Their "psychobilly" sound earned themselves a huge group of copycats and devotees. I myself am just a fanboy.

In memory of Lux Interior, the guys at Voodoo Village uploaded 9 compilations stuffed with some of the legend's favourite music. Go and have a listen! Here's an early vid of The Cramps playing Human Fly, a track you probably know best from the "As heard on radio soulwax" compilation.

How's 2008 been for you?
It's been exciting and stressful! I passed my final exams, graduated from school and moved to Berlin.

Where did you grow up?
I was born in the South of Germany and afterwards I moved to the East.... Over the years my points of view changed drasticly and I needed something bigger and more international, so I decided to move to Berlin.

So how have the first months of living in Berlin been so far?
Well, at the beginning everything was busy and hectic here but after a while I got used to it and now it's cool. I mean I haven't had that much time so far to see many galleries, museums etc. as I have to work during the week and afterwards or at the weekend I need time for myself and parties…

Have you allready been to Berghain?
I love Berghain. For me it's the best place so far to relax and see different faces. When I was living in Leipzig there were maybe 3 clubs where you could go, listen to good music, see interessting people and just do what you want. Berghain has all of that.

Are Berlin boys different from boys from Leipzig?
It sounds cocky but hell they are. I mean, you can’t compare those cities and the boys living there. Leipzig is a small town with calm and ordinary people who try to run their life quite simple. Berlin boys are more open which can be good, but if you are really out for making long lasting friendships or even relationships, it's damn hard. I think it needs a good mixture of both, but at the moment I would definitely choose Berlin as the place to be in Germany.

What turns you on?
That definitly depends on the guy. I'm not saying no to harder action... I'd rather have some bruises, than fall asleep while being sucked downunder.

Where did your love for classical music come from?
I guess it all started when I was a young boy at the age of 5 or something. I always loved listening to piano concerts or orchestra pieces and later on I enjoyed the opera and the ballet. It's a complete different world, I guess it's there to escape from your ordinary life. I went to many parties with opera and ballet friends and they are all crazy. I also went to a special school with music orientated classes. So I'm well educated in Music History, Theoretical Stuff, Choir, Voice- and Pianolesons. I always wanted to sing, but at this point I'm not so sure about that anymore. I'll see what the future brings.

How did this model contract come about?
Two friends who also moved to Berlin recently just asked me if I'd be interested and so I got in. They work with a photographer and a booker in Hamburg.

What are your model ambitions?
None actually. I'm just doing this as a hobby. It's nothing I can be succesful in or that I want to do as a fulltime job. I's a great opportunity to earn some extra money though. And I wouldn't say no if somebody invited me for a runway in Paris.

Do you like to travel?
I love it. My problem is, I haven't had the time for real holidays this year as I had to pass my final exams, move to Berlin and started working 5 days a week. I prefer making trips to my favorite city Paris, this is vacation for me. The people, the architecture, the Marais and my friends.. it's perfect! I went to many cities in Europe and my next destination will be Amsterdam and Paris. I'll try my best to move there and have a practical training for model booking.

What photographer would you like to work with?
Hedi Slimane. His pictures are so simple yet excellent. I love his style, shape and the basic colours he's using in every picture.

Do you care about your looks?
Who doesn't? I mean everybody cares about their looks. Of course there are people saying how you look and what you wear is unimportant . But I guess that's nonsense. You stand up, you pick something to wear and that's allready the first choice. For me it's kind of a lifestyle so I do care a lot. I can express my moods trough my clothes, my style.
But I also enjoy hanging around in nothing but my adidas shorts or a ripped short at home.

How would you describe your style?
I can't describe it honestly. As I change it almost every day. I have a huge collection of vintage stuff and some designer’s pieces. To make it complete I'd buy some basics at stores like Zara, H&M or COS. I love comparing old stuff with new clothes. A good trench coat fits in almost every situation of your life and I have them in many colours. At the moment I like oversized shirts with a simple shape or colour and jeans by Cheap Monday. I have one rule though: keep it simple. I hate overrated outfits for me. I prefer simple and calm colours.

Any designers you admire?
Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Raf Simons, Helmut Lang ,Viktor & Rolf. And of course YSL – R.I.P.

Who are your icons and why?
I never thought of ccons in my life. I guess I just don't need somebody to look up to. If I had to name somebody... my mum, because she's open minded and did everything she could for me when I was younger. Maybe some photographers like Helmut Newton – I love his work. Oh and there was his one guy who had a pretty simple idea which turned out to be something great. He did an exhibition of guys who are about to get an orgasm and in the moment of the orgasm he shot their faces, pretty interesting. And I recently saw great work of a guy called Vincent Tomov and I have to admit I really like his work. I like people who can reach everything they want because of their strength.

Any new Berlin artists we should know about?
I don't really listen to music made in Germany. It just doesn't do it for me. There are some great artists in Berlin though... Mia's quite good. They mix pop with electrical influences.

What’s your favourite part of a boy’s body?
Ass and Legs. I love pictures where you just see some pieces of a body, that's so much more exciting than anything else. A well nice shaped dick is very nice too!

What does a nice dick look like to you then?
Hard, long and juicy.. now that sounds really porn hey!

Do you own any kind of pornography?
Who doesn't? I mean I have a few movies, but I must admit I don't watch them very often.

Do you keep certain ethics?
Actually I have none. I just try to run my life almost without rules. My only priority in life is to let every individual life its life, what is best for him or her. I try not to hurt the people I love and care about me.

Hey Lawrence, how are you doing?
I'm good ta. Always good!

What are you working on at the moment?
I'm working on lots of stuff but I have a problem with starting things and not finishing them. At the moment I'm really trying to get my teeth stuck into a fanzine I'm producing. Myself, and the great John Kightley are putting some real class material together. Its gonna be hot!
Aside from that, I've been writing a bit recently and toying with some story ideas. I'm thinking about writing a semi-biographical story based around growing up in London. My teens were too crazy and I don't want to forget the madness and intensity when I'm older, so I think I'll put it on paper before it's too late!

Can you share a story with us?
London makes you grow up really fast and I was exposed to things way too early. Like drink and drugs. I remember a funny time when I had just turned 13 and me and a mate decided to smoke weed and steal a car (an old white BMW). We went joyriding around London and ended up getting lost in elephant and castle driving around and around the round abouts shouting at each other. A police car stopped us and immediately knew I wasn't old enough to be driving. I could barely see over the wheel. So we got arrested and held in Camberwell police station till my dad came to collect me the next morning! Whoops!

What's a real Londoner doing in Paris?
I'd been to Paris 4 or 5 times over the space of a few months and loved it so I decided to move there for a while to learn French...which didn't happen! I ended up just being a lazy socialite and going to endless parties and openings! Paris is an amazing city. It's definetely in my top 4 cities and I go back everytime I'm invited to a cool party.

What will your fanzine be about?
There are two in the making.. equally hot and equally unpublished.. best I
not say too much really, that way I keep in control of the deadlines (!) and
to prevent poachers from stealing our brilliant ideas.

How did you meet up with photographer John Kightley?
Me and JK go way way back. We grew up on the same council estate in north London. John was in the same class as my brother in primary and secondary school, but we weren't friends
until I was about 15. In my younger years I was a cocky little cunt and I used to shout abuse at
John and his mates and they would chase me around the streets trying to beat me up! Not much changed really!

What's a shoot with John like?
Shooting with John is always really good. Sometimes its hard work physically depending on the concept (eg. In the past we've had to drag generators, furniture, TV's etc half a mile across muddy fields in the pouring rain). We have been doing shoots for years and we have become a great creative team.

What music are you into?
All sorts. I have seriously eclectic music taste and love everything from electro to drum & bass to classical. Whatever suits or sets the mood really. So if I'm in getting it on with a hot boy I might stick on some old skool slow RNB jams, or some hardcore or techno drum and bass, depending on how much coke has been consumed and how hard the guy I'm fucking wants it!

Is this similar to the music you produce yourself?
Well I'm actually not a very good producer so I mostly make electro stuff (seems any ol kid with a laptop is doing it these days, look at Calvin Harris) ... I'm still learning.

Do you have a demo?
No but I'll make one up when I get some more material together. I'll stick it on a cassette tape and tell everyone I'm "retro or cool".

Is style important to you?
It's not anymore important to me than it is to anyone else as such. I think style is integral to everyone and whether we like it or not we all have style (not all good ofcourse).
I feel comfortable in random things... so can be found on a dancefloor wearing pyjamas or sometimes just underwear with cool trainers.

What kind of underwear do you wear?
Well considering I have a thing for underwear I don't actually own that many different varieties! (not to say I don't have enough pairs!). I like baggy boxers so I can swing free but obviously if I'm wearing fitted jeans I'll wear tight briefs. And If I'm getting fucked I might be wearing a jockstrap. Or maybe not. Function, practicality and sex. Underwear is hot!

Who are your heroes?
John Waters is a hero of mine and I've really been inspired by the John Waters family too (namely Divine and Edith Massey). Their boldness and character are unrivalled and they will live on forever through their work.
I have to say Michael Jackson too, despite his recent acts of madness it's clear and unquestionable that the man was a true genius!
My mate John too, he's just amazing and always an inspiration (but sometimes a cunt)!

Can you give us a hint about your documentary?
All I can say is it contains sex. Lots of hot sex.

Can you tell us about the film you'll be acting in?
It's a short, dream-like and slightly surreal film about a young man called Ash, and it kind of sketches out how he is or isn't coming to terms with his own promiscuity. Which I think means I'll be doing nude shots. I'm really excited.

Do you have problems with being naked?
I love being naked. Where I used to live I had a middle eastern looking family living right opposite and it used to make me laugh that I would walk around naked and I could see them looking at me through the net curtains. That kind of thing doesn't bother me. There are people who I feel less comfortable around but it's circumstantial.

What do you look for in boys?
10" + is perfect. But a sense of humour is key! Someone who enjoys sex. And a guy who can cook is brilliant. I think I got the perfect guy for me at the moment which is great.

What makes you hard?
Fuck, LOADS of stuff!
If I want mental stimulation I can think of a thousand things that get me horny as fuck!
I just need to think about my boyfriends sweet ass and all the millions of things I could do with it! Mmmmm! Physically I just need to kiss and I'm there. Easy. Or I could just sit on a train. I always get hard on trains!

Hey Ricardo, what's up?

I just moved. I am finally going to live alone in my small studio. I suppose this will keep me somewhat stressed out but yet I feel happy. On the other hand, I have experienced both professional and personal changes in my life.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working on an animation project for a fashion brand that will be shown during the spring / summer 2008 runway shows. I am also currently illustrating El Mundo's sex blog journal and finishing the graphic execution of "Arxiu_Dossiers" in the Santa Monica Art Center (an archive for a portfolio of contemporary artists), among other collaborations, like some covers in Leer magazine, a fashion edition for Metal magazine …

How did u get into illustration?

Before working in illustration I was doing graphic design. Step by step I came into the world of illustration combining both disciplines, but after several collaborations with some free magazines I started publishing daily in elmundo.es. My job became very visible and I was able to produce a big portfolio within a short period of time. Until now I have been working with different magazines, such as Yo Dona, El País-EP3, Marie Claire, Hércules, Metal, Wendy & Rita, Original Voice, Leer… and from that I was asked to do a set of big format mural illustrations for the Hall of the Santa Monica Art Center (centredartsantamonica.net) in Barcelona.

Who are your heroes?

Who or what inspires you?

I general I get inspired by all the artists that I love, by the music, fashion magazines, contemporary art, the cinema, the illustration, the fashion design, from runway shows, graphic design, clothes. I am always aware about what is going on, I am very curious and I am constantly observing, and any detail can be useful for my job. I can also find inspiration in my heroes and many creators such as Alexander McQueen, Rachel Zimmerman, Charles Anastase, Pierre Huyghe, Dior Homme, John Cassavetes, Fanzine 137, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Terry Richardson, Walter Pfeiffer, Daniel Riera, David Lynch, Steven Meisel, Michel Gondry, Albert Folch Studio, Vmagazine, Juergen Teller, Joan Morey, David Bowie, Marc Jacobs, Björk, M/M Paris, Jarvis Cocker, Silvia Prada, Jop van Bennekom, Ángel Vilda, Elizabeth Peyton, Matthew Barney, Julie Verhoeven, Sasha Pivovarova…

The boys you draw, are they your friends?

In general no, but I would love to do it with some of them, although the majority of my friends are not so extrovert.
I have drawn colleagues in some cases and I've included myself in a composition as well, but normally I select them from fashion magazines, erotic photos, cinema and the vast world of the internet.

What´s the arts and graphics scene in Barcelona like?

You can find a lot of people working in media, publicity, photo, fashion and illustration in Barcelona. The current job demand can not absorb this amount of professionals though. The city of Barcelona is too small to consolidate their job. That's the reason why I always like the same people, the ones that keep their own way of doing things, and they do not go according the fleeting tendencies.

Do you know krautboy Pelayo?

Personally I do not know him. I met him once at the launch party for the second edition of “Hércules”, in which I was collaborating. It was impossible not to have an eye on him. Then, in your blog I was reading he had moved to London, with some interesting intentions, and I hope he succeeds.

Would you like to draw him?

Of course, he fits within my style, maybe I will.

What are your goals?

I want to keep working on the stuff I like and try to live from that. I want to keep progressing as a professional and keep my job challenging. Eventually I hope to open my job up to other artistic disciplines.

If you are in the L.A. area this month, be sure to check out Dash Snow's first solo exhibition at Peres Projects. Entitled "God Spoiled A Perfect Asshole When He Put Teeth In Yer Mouth", the influental gallery puts new photography work and collages on display and shows the controversial artist's very first film. In "Untitled (Penis Envy)", various guys have a cirkle jerk over a print of the phrase "“How much talent does it really take to come on the New York Post, anyway?". The question was raised in named newspaper after Snow created some collages using his own cum. Click the stills pictured above to see the piece online.

Let's not talk about Citebeur for a moment. Turkey has had an (unsuspected) blooming rockscene ever since a bunch of Shadows records landed on its shores. In the sixties and seventies many Turkish musicians imported the then popular psychedelic sounds and gave it their own traditional twist. Unfortunataly these records rarely made it to this side of the Bosporus and became very hard to find over the years. This podcast by french dj collective Paris Dj's Soundsystem collects some of these great Turkish psychedelic workouts and is utterly fantastic!

Great debut from LA art punks Dean Spunt and Randy Randall on Fat Cat. The album is a collection of songs from previous ep's released on different DIY labels. If you like your noise poppy or your pop noisy, this is it! References are Jesus and the Mary Chain, Animal Collective, Liars, Black Dice, Deerhoof.

"Glue" by Alexis Dos Santos (2005)
On Imdb someone wrote "Larry Clark in Spanish, but sweet and non-judgmental" and I couldn't describe this Argentinian movie better. The story of 15 year old Lucus discovering love, sex, friendship and music is partly shot in beautiful super 8 giving it a very warm and melancholic feel.

David Lynch - The Air Is On Fire (2007)
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the big exhibition of Lynch's artwork at Parisian Foundation Cartier so I ordered the catalogue instead. Through his paintings, photography and other work we get a closer view on the (often dark) universe we know from Inland Empire, Lost Highway, Eraserhead, etc...

Scum Bag Fag Mag - Issue 14
The latest issue of this cut and paste magazine has a 'Dark Horse' theme and features lots of horny rabbits, homo horses and big cocks. What more would you want on a summer holiday? Director Phillipe Vallois goes on a quest to find back young actor Johan in the underground gay scene of seventies Paris. The journey documents the era of sexual experiments and became a huge cult movie. Now it's been released on dvd in it's unedited form, including the notorious fistfuck scene.

Dan Deacon - Spiderman Of The Rings (2007)
Hyperactive electronica courtesy of Dan Deacon, co-founder of Baltimore's Wham City art collective. Using lots of vocoders, synths, drum machines and other hardware, Deacon creates a mad electronic mess stuffed with hooks and pop references. Somewhere between Hot Chip, Battles and Venetian Snares.

Walter Pfeiffer - Night and Day
While flipping through the enormous new monograph 'Night and Day' one wouldn't suspect the photo's to be taken by a sixty year old photographer. Pfeiffer's stills and pictures of youthfull boys are still as fresh as the ones many of the people he influenced (Tillmans, Sandford, etc) deliver.

So much good music has come from Scandinavia over the last couple of years and today I'm adding another one to the list. Hemstad are six healthy men from "Goth'n'burg" making uplifting instrumentals with the occasional 'da-da-da' vocal. Fans of Animal Collective or even The Go-Team will certainly enjoy the lo-fi sound. Hemstad's self titled debut album was relased on Catbird Records in Ohio over a year ago. But don't start rushing to the shops yet as the edition of 500 is sold out now. How did you end up in London?
I moved to Barcelona when I was 19 from a small town I thought wasn't big enough. Plus I wanted to study here, in Saint Martins.

What are the differences between living in Barcelona & living in London?
Here in London everybody likes being different. Basically they want to have their own style when in Barcelona they all try to look the same, have the same kind of coolness. They need to feel accepted by the people they admire.

How would you describe your style?

I think it has changed so much over the last couple of years.. I´d describe my style as pimp-meets-skater-meets-dandy-meets-L.A.kid.

What do you do during the day?
I work as PA for Darren at Giles Deacon. When I'm working I probably meet some celebrity at a private fitting like I did yesterday (I met Victoria Beckham). If I have the day off I try to meet my best friends for breakfast, or catch up with some mates in town for a laugh...

What was she (Victoria) like?

Oh fuck I loved her. She's just herself you know and I really like that kind of people. After the meeting I thought "woow she does have balls to get out of bed everyday and fight the world".

When did you start your fotolog?
I started fotolog.com/katelovesme more than a year ago but it got closed because I showed more than I should have shown, you get me. So i had to open a new one last October (/katelovedme). I've been behaving since then.

Do you know haw many people visit it?
The total views are 1,274,589. About 5000 a day.

Have you ever had sex with one of your fans?

Maybe.. yeah.. Sometimes i get this messages saying "Oh I love this picture, everytime I see it I have to have a wank.." or "Just so you know I´ve just cum all over the pc screen".

Boombox is just crazy. You meet every kind of human being there.. and I don´t know, I always have a good time there so I can´t stop going. I hope Richard moves it somewhere else soon... It's getting a bit normal I´d say.

Do you spend a lot of time dressing up (or dressing down)?
Dressing up not really. I know what looks good on me or what I like so I don't have those 20 minutes in front of the wardrobe that people usually spend. I don't spend time dressing down either cause I'm always dressed down by someone else.

Do you have a favourite designer or brand?
I can wear any brand if I like the garment, I'm not fussy about labels. I do admire some designers though, like John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Nicolas Ghesquière...

What's your biggest talent?

If I were 10 I´d say drawing... now.. Public Relations. Although I want to study fashion design everybody insists I´d be a good PR. I trust them.

What are your main inspirations?
It's funny how inspired I can get by silly structures like the shape of a shoe or a car, the muscles of an anatomy picture.

Although his "Irregular Regulars" series is of absolutele brilliance (see pictures above), nyc posterboy Ryan McGinley wasn't the first photographer to turn his camera on Morrissey's fanbase. In 2001, L.A. based artist William E Jones started taking pictures of devoted hispanic Mozzer fans. He found some parallels between the working class past of the Smiths singer and the situation of the young L.A. latinos. This Song Is A Mess But So Am I May 2003 - May 26th 2007

So I am throwing in the towel on This Song Is A Mess But So Am I. I am not quitting music. I will just no longer be creating music under the name This Song Is A Mess But So Am I. When I originally started this project in May 2003, it was a way for me to deal with the death of my mother from cancer in January of that same year. I don't think I really had any intentions of dragging it out this long. Through this project I met some really really amazing people who had been through or were going through a similar situation of a loved one suffering from or having passed away from cancer. I know that those people really helped me alot in contributing to understanding my own situation and it also opened up pathways of communication that are very important. I also have become great friends with some amazing bands who I continue to look up to and continue to have much respect and admiration for.

Lately, I have been feeling too much negative personal baggage from my mothers death and other things associated with this project to the point where I cannot deal with it anymore. It is not a healthy situation. I feel as if it is stuck in the same spot it was when the project was born. I finished what I originally set out to do with it, which was a personal motivation from the start.
